Weldon Chemicals Ltd have over 25 years experience in the manufacture of rare earth polishing powders.

 

Following an extensive programme of research and development we offer a range of glass polishing powders with unique properties. Our powders are based on high purity cerium oxide, manufactured using a chemical process resulting in an optimum crystallite structure. Additives are added to the cerium oxide reducing the cerium content of the finished powder. This results in a powder with exceptional speed and surface properties at a very low cost.

 

A unique feature of our powders is the very carefully controlled conditions which are used to produce the cerium oxide. By careful choice of chemical and firing conditions a powder of around 5 microns is produced, which is suitable for the majority of glass polishing applications. The absence of sintering and softness of the grains in the powder combine to produce a powder which produces exceptional surface quality at relatively high particle sizes. Because there is no need to micronise the powder except in the case of powders used for the most demanding applications, costs are kept low and an exceptionally uniform particle size is maintained. A further advantage in avoiding micronising is that the characteristic surface property of the powder is retained.
